Bordshockeyfilm har premiär

– på söndag sänds Table Hockey – the movie i kanadensisk tv

Thor Henrikson och kanadensiska Triad Films är nu helt färdiga med sin dokumentärfilm om bordshockey, och den premiärvisas i kanadensisk tv nu på söndag. Sverige och Lars Fridell spelar en viktig roll i filmen, som är inspelad bland annat under VM 2001 och SM 2002. Förhoppningsvis kan den visas i Sverige under lag-SM-helgen.

The Table Hockey Movie goes inside the world of the international table hockey tournament world. A world that few have seen, or even knew existed. Yet all over Europe and North America (and as far away as Samoa) there exists legions of devoted followers who are coming out of their basements to take this game to new levels.

At the center of our story is the growing Table Hockey rivalry between North America and Europe. Until recently Canadians and Americans arrogantly believed that they were at the center of the Table Hockey universe, unaware even that the Swedes not only dominate the international game, but may even have invented it.

Our film penetrates the lives of several players, exploring why they devote so much of themselves to the game and what it is they get out of it. A best selling author with a PHD in Philosophy, a New York City Police Sergeant, and a quiet Canadian who answers the call to defend his nation’s honour against the gloating Swedes – these are a few of our colourful heroes.

Visually exciting, offbeat and personable, and with a surprising philosophical bent, the Table Hockey Movie may just make you go down into your basement – to dig out the game you had almost forgotten about.
